On July 27, during #OcupaTelevisa and around the time the broadcast of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics was being televised in Mexico, the official Twitter account of Televisa's news division was hacked and a tweet calling Enrique Peña Nieto, Mexico's President-elect, a "pendejo" was published. The tweet was publicly visible and readable until July 28 around 5pm EST, when it was finally deleted and the Twitter account of Televisa's news division announced that it was back up.

The original hacked tweet was retweeted more than 10,000 times on Twitter and went viral. It is not the first time that Televisa's Twitter accounts were hacked during the #YoSoy132 movement. On July 4, Univision News reported that a Televisa anchor declared via Twitter that the July 1 presidential election was a fraud, but that Televisa confirmed that the Twitter account in question was hacked.
