This morning on Twitter, Latino Rebels shared part one of “David Sal Silva: An American Tragedy,” a four-part series by Bakersfield journalist/writers Nick Belardes, As we normally do when we want to amplify important stories via Twitter, we cc’d several Twitter profiles, including those of @MALDEF, @NCLR, and @democracynow.
Here is just one example of a tweet we sent out this morning:
David Sal Silva: An American Tragedy by Nick Belardes fb.me/24s4HOGFR cc @maldef @nclr #Justice4David

We soon followed up with this tweet:
@mlux65 we agree and we hope organizations like @maldef @nclr and others begin to put their power behind this awful tragedy
— Latino Rebels (@latinorebels) May 30, 2013
That tweet led to the following exchange between our Twitter profile and MALDEF’s Twitter profile. Here is the thread:
@latinorebels:@maldef does not discuss lawsuits until we file/win/lose. >#Arpaio #GovBrewer #Dreamers #Education #DayLaborers #Carwasheros

@maldef thanks! Has MALDEF filed a lawsuit about Silva case? Have you spoken out against it? If so, can you share so we can run it? Txs!
— Latino Rebels (@latinorebels) May 30, 2013
@maldef we aren’t questioning what you have done in the past, which has been amazing, but we are asking specifically about Silva case TY
— Latino Rebels (@latinorebels) May 30, 2013
@latinorebels: Justice is rarely immediate, but it is beautiful when it is finally permanently ours.
— MALDEF (@MALDEF) May 30, 2013
@latinorebels: We are glad that you perceive @maldef as powerful.We thank our US Constitution, Latino community & individual donors.
— MALDEF (@MALDEF) May 30, 2013
@maldef we have respect for you all a lot and your history, we sincerely hope you look into #Silva death in Kern County. Latino dad.

The MALDEF profile then tweeted the following to us. The tweet no longer appears on Twitter so we are providing a screen grab:
