Can’t help but think back to @bellavidaletty’s post on victim blaming a few weeks ago. It’s not a new concept to me, but one I am getting obsessed with. Sometimes I wonder if it is not more prevalent among certain socioeconomic classes where kids are raised being told, “that wouldn’t have happened if you…………” With the internet and message boards, I see it all the time where individuals are excused of “not exercising common sense” or “should know better.” And, yes, cops love that type of reasoning. I think their favorite response when getting called by somebody is “Well, why were you …….. in the first place?”
