Hey, it must be that time of year when BBC Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has to offend someone, and today Clarkson’s target is Puerto Rico. According to the Daily Star, Clarkson decided to offend boricuas by basically calling the island “a crime-ridden hellhole.”
Clarkson decided to crap on Puerto Rico, in response to a comment by 85-year-old Sir Bruce Forsyth, who said that he intended to spend more time in Puerto Rico, since it is where his 55-year-old wife Wilnelia was born. Here is what Clarkson said:
Has he gone mad? Per head the murder rate in Puerto Rico is six times higher than in the USA. The doormen in hotels carry submachine guns. It may be a bit chilly in Britain, but at least there’s a chance of getting to the post office without having your watch nicked and your head cut off.
According to the report, Sir Bruce is “shocked and angry.” The story continues:
But last night a pal of Sir Bruce said: “We don’t understand why Clarkson had to stick his oar in with these offensive comments. He has gone for a cheap laugh at Puerto Rico and Sir Bruce’s expense.
“I didn’t know he was such an expert on world affairs.”
