Groups Push All Officials to Defend DACA and TPS

On the heels of Senators sending a letter to the White House calling on it to use its executive authority to defend DACA if sued and a month after a similar letter advocating to maintain TPS, immigrant rights groups are calling on all elected officials to do the same, especially as ICE Director Homan pledges to ramp up deportations.

Our priority is to defend what is real and in front of us. DACA and Temporary Protective Status have saved thousands of lives and opened hundreds of thousands of opportunities. Both programs are irreplaceably necessary in their own right.

The best thing any Senator, Representative, or official who wants to advance the status of the immigrant community can do is fight for the programs that currently exist and against the raids and detentions, stigma, and hateful rhetoric terrorizing our communities and tainting the national conversation.
