The following video from the White House is what President Trump had to say (or not say) about immigration on Thursday. FYI, this proposal won’t pass any time soon in Congress, and what you witnessed was just another 2020 campaign speech. So with that said, here it is:
How did he do? Ask our founder (and some of the RTs he did):
"Higher skilled" is just code word for "not from Central America" #Trump #immigration

The racialized language is classic Trump. It's not overt any more, more subtle and code word-y. #Immigrants

Drugs won't stop in the US unless Americans STOP TAKING DRUGS, and that ain't happening any time soon, mi gente. #trump #immigration
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
New Trump slogan: "Let's build 20% of the wall by 2020!" #immigration
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
Ah yes, the conflation of criminality and families fleeing violence to deport them all back to Central America. #immigration #trump
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
The "broken asylum system" is actually international and US law. But that's a new way to describe it. #immigration #trump
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
Trump's message is simple: pit asylum-seekers against everybody else. #immigration
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
Gang members.
Criminals.
Families.
Asylum-seekers.They are all the same to Trump administration. #immigration
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
Told you all: Trump is now calling the legal immigration system "dysfunctional." This is classic #TantonNetwork play. No immigration at all.
All you #LatinosForTrump who bragged about the "legal way," you all have been played.

In other words, Central Americans and Mexicans are not smart, are not "brilliant," in the eyes of the Trump admin. #immigration
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
Trump says they are increasing employment based migration from 12% to 57%.
Trump also says they are "prioritizing" spouses and children, who go "to the front of the line." But right now there is no line – they can come in immediately without waiting in any line.

The #TantonNetwork propaganda is spot on today during this Trump speech.
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
Totally confused by Trump saying our current immigration system “discriminate(s) against genius” when his administration has been trying to tighten high-skilled visas and make it harder for students on visas…
— Tal Kopan (@TalKopan) May 16, 2019
Migrants who enter on family-sponsored and diversity visas are actually better educated than the U.S.-born population, despite what Trump says, according to estimate by @David_J_Bier https://t.co/NN5nl0jgdx
— Roque Planas (@RoqPlanas) May 16, 2019
Trump contends that migrants depress wages for working-class Americans. Yet he does not apply this logic (which has major problems) to high-skilled migrants, who would also, presumably, compete with American-born workers.
— Roque Planas (@RoqPlanas) May 16, 2019
FYI, you can share all the stats and fact checks about how the President is wrong on this immigration speech, but it doesn't matter. Propaganda is effective. Trump, if anything, has been consistent on this issue since 2015. This is the #TantonNetwork running WH policy.
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
LOL, Trump coming up with this "learn English" and "civics exam" requirement as if it were some new idea. Gang of 8, anyone? 2013, anyone?
— Julio Ricardo Varela (@julito77) May 16, 2019
Remember that section about #DACA and #PathwaytoCitizenship in Trump's speech today?
Yeah, me neither.

Good take. https://t.co/UWn76NxLzH

That was another campaign speech by Trump today. Gee, he is basing his campaign on #immigration again? What a surprise.
