As if we need more proof that President Trump does care one bit about Puerto Rico, here is what The New York Times reported in a Thursday morning story by Peter Baker and Maggie Haberman about this whole buying Greenland thing:
“At one point last year, according to a former official who heard him, he even joked in a meeting about trading Puerto Rico for Greenland—happy to rid himself of an American territory whose leadership he has feuded with repeatedly.”
This news comes just a day after we found out that National Republican Congressional Committee is playing up the Greenland craze and tending to forget that Puerto Rico might have a thing or two to say about it.
The @NRCC is requesting minimum $25 donation for this t-shirt with map of the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii…..and Greenland?
Really??!! ?♂️

We do wonder, though, if Puerto Rico’s Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González (a pro-statehood Republican) and Governor Wanda Vázquez (who says that “she is inclined toward Republican philosophies”) might want to start defending the dignity of the island-colony, instead of having Trump and other Republicans continue to mock Puerto Rico.
Trump joking about trading #PuertoRico for #Greenland.
Qué falta de respeto.
Seriously @RepJenniffer, @wandavazquezg: This is your @GOP President acting this way. Will you speak out against this? https://t.co/4AHcmjkdW1

We doubt it, because it’s pretty clear that Republicans really love to make fun of Puerto Rico.
This is where all those Greenland jokes were going, inevitably. At least he's honest about how he views a colony inhabited by millions of people. https://t.co/iThNMIp6Sa
