On Thursday, Mexa Institute shared a new bulletin that confirmed what we knew all along.
Let’s have them explain it:
“Due to the change of the demographics in the U.S., caused by a decrease of population and an aging society, non-Hispanic white American workers are not able to continue to perform certain jobs, therefore sectors that require physical effort and long shifts have attracted and benefited from the Mexican-origin workforce, which is younger and vital for the labor market.
Despite the negative perception of Mexican workers, they are critical for the growth of the United States economy. Most of all, they do not replace the American workforce, but complement it.”
We repeat: Mexican workers “do not replace the American workforce, but complement it.”
Read up and learn, people.
maybe if you talked to people? that’s not a thing displacing American workers as much as its reported. that’s more a concern of lets say INDIA. its the fact that too many mexicans and central americans and irish, btw, work off the books. and collect benefits. we cannot sustain giving all your children an education, food and health benefits without your help. they need to pay their fair share. and please don’t say its not a problem. everyone knows they work off the books. so it needs to be a real conversation. if you really care about why we feel the way we do. and criminals must leave. immediately. not hang around for another five years. and of course people must only be allowed to enter legally. every cpuntry has a right and an obligation to know who is entering their country
And who hires all these Mexicans you claim work off the books? American employers, American companies that’s who…. So you are placing the blame on who again?
I agree with Omar. Barbara, I understand your comment regarding this article. Every country has a right to know who is entering their country. However, not all immigrant workers that are “working off the books” receive benefits. In addition, many of those who are undocumented still have to pay taxes– not to mention, don’t receive refund taxes. That is a harsh reality that one can only understand through experience.
In addition, you stated “we cannot sustain giving all your children an education, food and health benefits without your help. they need to pay their fair share. ” I believe you complete disregarded the point of this article. Legal and non-legal workers are paying their fair share by keeping the US economy afloat. They are working jobs that reqire a plentiful amount of physical labor– that most Americans would rather not work for.
Finally, not all immigrants are criminals 🙂 I am assuming you are a US citizen. We are all immigrants. The only true North Americans are Native Americans. Please think about why your anestors came to live in the States and then compare that situation with workers who come to the US to work and change their family’s destiny.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Goodbye now 🙂
