Sister Norma Pimentel is known for being one of the nation’s strongest champions for immigrants. But growing up, she wanted to be an architect. However, a chance encounter with pizza, of all things, would change her life forever. Today, Sister Norma Pimentel is the executive director of the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley and runs the Humanitarian Respite Center in McAllen, Texas.
Latino USA sits down with Sister Norma in her convent chapel to talk about the work she is doing in her border community for immigrants.
