The following excerpt is from the official Vice President’s pool report for a Hispandering (sorry, Hispanic) Heritage Month event where Vice President Joe Biden spoke:
[Biden] said comprehensive immigration reform was needed and that if Congress did not “get it done” before the end of the year, “the President’s going to do it, and he’s going to do an awful lot.”
“I know you’re all waiting and you’re frustrated,” he said.
He said:
Watch when this election is over, watch what happens when all of a sudden our friends in the other team realize their prospects for future electoral success hinge upon acting rationally. They will either act rationally, or we will act for them, and if we have to act for them, they will not be around a whole lot longer to act in large numbers … I’m not offering any false hope about what they’ll do between now and the election, but … I can tell you, when this election [is] over in the lame duck session, they just may see the Lord. It is possible. But if they don’t they will see some lightning.
According to the pool report, President Obama made a brief appearance after Biden’s remarks. And oh yeah, the Army Latin Combo Band played.
