Hillary Clinton’s ‘Brave’ New Stance on Immigration (VIDEO)

For those Latinos who think Hillary Clinton is a cold-hearted witch, on Wednesday her campaign released a video titled “Brave” in which the former secretary of State and current Democratic candidate interacts with a young Latina girl. The heartbreaking exchange took place on Sunday in Las Vegas, where the Clinton campaign is looking to shore up the Latino vote ahead of Saturday’s Nevada Democratic caucus.

GIRL: My parents, they have a letter of deportation. I’m scared for them because they have the deportation. I’m scared they are going to be deported.

CLINTON: Come here, babe. Come here. (applause) I’m going to do everything I can so you don’t have to be scared. And you don’t have to be worried about what happens to your mom, or your dad, or somebody else in your family. I feel really, really strongly, but you’re being very brave. And you have to be brave for them, too, because they want you to be happy. They want you to be successful. They don’t want you to worry too much. Let me do the worrying. I’ll do all the worrying. Is that a deal? I’ll do the worry. I’ll do everything I can to help, okay? (applause)

It’s a touching scene, to be sure, as Hillary holds the little girl on her knee while tears flood their eyes. Unfortunately for Mrs. Clinton, there’s another video of her floating around which reveals her true callousness toward Latino immigrants.

As I described in a post last week:

Both of Clinton’s prescription have been carried out to cruel effects. At the behest of Washington, Mexico launched a crackdown on its southern border with Guatemala and began conducting raids on migrant safe houses, making the trek across Mexico even more perilous than it was before. Last month a Senate subcommittee published the findings of a six-month investigation into the placement of detained child refugees with relatives in the United States as they await a judge’s decision as to whether they can stay in the United States or not. The report found that at least a dozen child refugees placed by the Department of Health and Human Services were the victims of human traffickers and at least another dozen suffered various forms of abuse at the hands of the very people charged with their care. One 16-year-old girl was released into the care of a person claiming to be her cousin but who was actually a sex trafficker, with whom the girl was forced to have sex.

Perhaps the only thing “brave” about Hillary’s latest video is her attempt to appear as a defender of immigrant families. She’s far from it.
