We totally understand the desire to capitalize on the racism that is Donald Trump, but we are just curious as to why money was spent on the following short film called M.A.M.O.N. (Monitor Against Mexicans Over Nationwide). According to the YouTube channel behind the satirical sci-fi film, “M.A.M.O.N. is part of the Wecanfxit project, powered by Uruguayan production house Aparato. Our mission is to change the world using our geeky weapons: cinematography, visual effects and CGI. Our motto: Making the world a better place, one pixel at a time.”
So here is the film, produced by a Uruguayan production house about the U.S.-Mexico border. Count how many stale Mexican stereotypes are in the film. We stopped counting at like 10.
With friends like these….
Hey, we totally understand that Aparato is promoting its film talent, but you would think that other Latin Americans can be a bit more of an ally? Feel free to destroy Trump all you like but does it have to be at the expense of perpetuating the same old, same old Mexican stereotypes? (Although we like the one about the scared diplomat.)
One more thing: Monitor Against Mexicans Over Nationwide doesn’t even make sense in English.
