Wait a minute, we thought Budweiser was all about America, but maybe its version of America has always been an immigrant one? In the leadup to the Super Bowl, Budweiser released the following commercial, which tells part of the story of how Adolphus Busch left Germany and came to the United States to sow the seeds of the Anheuser-Busch company. It is called “Born the Hard Way.”
We get it. German immigrants weren’t from here either and we got to give it up to Budweiser for producing this commercial. But you know someone deep in the heart of Trump Land, people will think Adolphus Busch came here the “legal” way. Nonetheless, it is still cool to see but you know what would have been bolder? To present other stories outside the safe European one that show real stories, and not the typical one that comes from the border.
That is all.
