With all the news coming in from Anaheim about the off-duty copy who shot at 13-year-old Christian Dorscht, an online campaign to raise money to help with legal fees for Christian’s family has already exceeded initial goals.
Johnny Dorscht, Christian’s dad, created a YouCaring.com page called “Help Christian be a kid again.” As of this posting, the initial goal of raising $10,000 has already been met and 658 donors have already raised close to $15,000.
Here is what Johnny Dorscht wrote on the page:
Earlier this week my son 13 year old Christian was walking with some class mates when he was assaulted by an off duty police officer. Christian was merely standing up for a female friend when this man saw it fit to lay his hands on my son he is 13 years old and hold him against his will. The family is asking for you help in raising money to help with mounting costs as Christian was placed in juvenile jail. Christian is home safely but there are fees to be paid. We appreciate all the help anybody can provide. We are trying to do right by Christian and see that justice is served. If you find it in your heart to bless this family, any amount would be greatly appreciated. Any money that is raised and not needed will be donated to the local after school programs to help keep kids off the streets. Please pass the word along to as many as possible. Thank you and God bless.
