Oh, you kids.
The latest example of anti-Latino bigotry mixed with a Trump campaign message happened last Friday at an Alabama high school, when a photo of Robertsdale High School students holding a “Put the Panic Back in Hispanic” sign next to a Trump “Make America Great Again” banner became public on the Facebook page of Jennifer Lopez Vazquez:
“This happened yesterday [Friday] at our school pep rally. They know it’s Hispanic Month. That’s very disrespectful in so my ways. But it’s funny to think that our school thinks it ” OKAY ” this is. Honestly what white trash looks like,” Lopez Vazquez posted.
A local Alabama report has more:
The reaction was so intense that the district superintendent had to comment about it:
“We are aware of a photo that appears to be taken at a Robertsdale High School football pep rally Friday Sept. 15 that is circulating on social media containing political banners and unacceptable language. School administrators, as well as my office, are following up on the matter.”
According to local Alabama media, the student who made the sign was already apologizing: “It wasn’t my intention and was not meant for it to be taken that way. I apologize for the publicity and misunderstandings that it has brought to our school.”
And what was her excuse? Well, her lawyer said that Robertsdale was playing a football game against (wait for it) Spanish Fort.
Yeah, ok.
Hit it, Gollum.
