Talk about taking a protest to Twitter. Yesterday, the official Twitter account of Televisa's news division, Noticieros Televisa, was allegedly hacked around 3pm EST during the start of the Olympics's opening ceremonies, according to Peru's El Comercio. The tweet called Enrique Peña Nieto, Mexico's President-elect, a "pendejo" and claimed that Mexico could have done better with anyone else. According to Twitter, the tweet has been RT'd more than 10,000 times so far. The tweet has yet to be deleted. Here are some screen captures, which also included Peña Nieto's official Twitter account.
About one hour after the original tweet was posted, another official Televisa profile confirmed that the Noticieros account was hacked, although so far the NTelevisa_com profile is still active on Twitter.
A protest against Televisa has been occurring the last few days at the company's television studios. The Mexican movement, #YoSoy132, has targeted Televisa, alleging that the network improperly aided Peña Nieto in his July 1 victory at the polls.
