Immigrant rights leaders say they will shut it down again.

According to a release, the “new initiative will combat disinformation targeting the Latinx community.”

On Thursday, the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 was introduced to both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) is the lead Senate sponsor, while Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) is the lead House sponsor.

“Under the Biden-Harris administration, ICE and CBP [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] have continued to enforce their racist and cruel anti-immigrant agenda by deporting over 26,000 immigrants, including thousands of Black immigrants to countries including Cameroon, Haiti and Jamaica,”  a release about the action said.

“Other changes include using ‘undocumented noncitizen’ or ‘undocumented individual’ rather than ‘illegal alien’ and ‘integration or civic integration’ instead of ‘assimilation,'” Axios noted.

“Biden himself received three times more individual contributions ($5,364,994) from executives and leading employees of the border industry than Donald Trump ($1,730,435),” the report said.

Organizers are also calling to empty all detention centers, by releasing individuals into the community.

“The flights include five pregnant women, including two women who were almost at full term (36-weeks and 35-weeks pregnant), risking the safety of the expectant mothers,” the release added.

According to Boricuas Unidos en la Diáspora (BUDPR), three statehood advocates were invited to speak at the panel. BUDPR told Latino Rebels last week that two of the advocates declined the invitation, with the other individual not responding.

Cosecha noted that the protesters included families of undocumented immigrants currently detained by ICE.

An estimated 100 immigrant rights activists gathered at Freedom Plaza on Wednesday.

“The woman, only identified as Rosa to protect her identity, was arrested on Wednesday for two outstanding citations from 2015 after a traffic stop by the El Paso police,” the KTSM report said.
