A little girl from Panama born with heart problems died in Border Patrol custody Wednesday, the second death of a child from Latin America in U.S. government custody in two weeks.

In an attempt to shift negative attention away from the problematic and troubled agency, the National Border Patrol Council is deploying social media posts to spread misinformation and blatant lies.

“We believe that the Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement should be held accountable for their human rights violations.”

“In the last 24 hours, I have a directed a series of additional actions to care for those who enter our custody,” Security Secretary Kirstjen M. Nielsen said.

Until the company cancels the contract, they are directly responsible for human rights violations like the unreasonable use of force we saw at the border last week.
